Collection of Information
Altair gathers information about you on our Websites. When you visit an Altair Website, you provide Altair with the following information:
- Non-personal information collected by Altair through your interaction with a Website
- Personal information you knowingly and voluntarily disclose to Altair, such as (a) upon registration, if applicable (such as your name, e-mail address, company name, company or personal address, phone numbers and related data) or (b) when requesting or obtaining any Altair products or services online, or products and services provided by Altair affiliates, partners or suppliers or (c) when using online services which require specific technical information be provided by you, such as CAD data, materials models or information, flow data, FE models, and so on, to take advantage of online services.
Altair and its third party service providers use technology such as Web Beacons and Cookies to collect non-personally identifiable information about your use of the Website. As used herein, Web Beacons are small files, associated with the particular Website that transmit information regarding your use of the Website to Altair. As used herein, a Cookie is a piece of data stored on a computer that is tied to information about the user. You can easily remove or block Cookies using the settings in your browser if you wish to disable this feature. To confirm that you are logged into the service, we use session ID Cookies that immediately terminate once you close your browser.
Collection of Information by Third Party Service Providers
Altair hires third parties to provide information, reports and analysis about the usage of its website. Altair and its third party service providers use proprietary tools, including but not limited to Web Beacons and Cookies, to track and analyze non-personally identifiable usage and volume information and statistics. All third party service providers are obligated to protect your information in a manner consistent with commercially reasonable confidentiality standards.
Altair uses Google Analytics to collect non-personally identifiable information which is used to enhance your user experience and assist in promotional campaigns. Information about how Google Analytics collects and uses such information can be found here. You can opt-out of Google Analytics here.
Usage of Non-Personal Information
When you register or sign into Altair’s Websites, Altair and its third party service providers collect such non-personal data as your IP address, your browser type, and certain other information related to your use of the Website. Altair uses the collected information to track website usage rates, traffic patterns, and volume, which allows it to better understand and respond to customer demands and improve the efficiency of the Website.
Altair may use this data and share it with our subsidiaries and vendors providing web services to Altair to monitor the effectiveness of our Websites and to make improvements.
Usage of Personal Information
Altair uses your personal information to provide you with access to specific areas on a Website, and to allow you to participate on the Website’s social networking facilities, such as posting comments and questions on our blogs, and to allow Altair to obtain payment for goods or services procured by you via a Website, and for contacting you for promotional purposes. Altair uses your information to comply with US Government rules and regulations regarding export of technical information and/or products.
For online services provided via a Website, such as or www.connect.altair.com, Altair uses the information provided by you for setting up the technical problem(s), solving the problem(s), and generating reports to be accessed by you or other registered members authorized by your company’s administrator. Altair may also use the information to contact you regarding reported problems and issues.
Each registered user’s account with connect.altair.com is secured by a member-created password. Altair employs commercially reasonable measures to protect users’ information that is stored in relation to its Websites.
You understand and acknowledge that copies of use content you provide outside of secure transactions may remain viewable in cached and/or archived pages or if other users of a Website, have copied and/or stored your user content.
While Altair employs reasonable security measures to protect its own and its users’ information, Altair cannot guarantee the security of each user’s account information, as unauthorized entry or use, software or hardware failure, and other uncontrollable factors may compromise the security of each user’s personal information at any time.
Sharing Your Information with Third Parties
Altair does not disclose personal information to any third party unless Altair believes that disclosure is necessary to:
- Protect Altair’s rights;
- Coincide with legal requirements (ex: responding to a subpoena, search warrant, or any other legal process serviced upon Altair). Altair will not reveal information until Altair has a good faith belief that the law enforcement information and/or private litigant request meet the applicable legal standards;
- Protect the safety of its users and their personal information;
- Enhance your promotional and informational-sharing experience
- Respond to the request of a user.
Altair may provide services jointly with other affiliates or companies and Altair may share customer information with such affiliate or company in connection without your use of that service.
Altair expressly reserves the right to transfer personal information to a successor in interest that acquires the rights to that information as a result of the acquisition of Altair, or the sale of a substantial portion of its assets to that successor in interest.
You may inquire about your personal data stored by Altair and/or a list of third party provider companies by sending an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. Altair will provide you with a readable copy of the requested material. Altair will require proof of your identity before providing such data.
Correct, Updating or Removing Your Information
At any time, you can correct, update, or remove any of the personal information you’ve provided to Altair upon registration. You need to log in your account at connect.altair.com and use the "Edit Profile" feature.
Comments, Messages, and Links posted on the Website
Whenever you voluntarily post any information as a comment, blog, message, link, photo, video, and/or other information to a Web site, that information can be accessed by the public and can then be used by those people to send you unsolicited communications. Additionally, if you post a link to your network website on any third party side, your public profile will be viewable by a third party that clicks on your link. If you do not wish to have your public profile viewable to any third party, you should not post links to your network web site or third party sites.
The Altair Websites may contain links to other sites, including sites posted by you or other registered users. Altair is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of other websites. This Policy applies solely to the information collected in the use of Altair’s network and Altair’s Websites.
Altair retains the right, in its sole discretion, to change this Policy at any time. Such new policy will take effect within thirty (30) days of posting on this site. Each user is bound by any change to this Policy if he or she uses the site after said changes have been posted and effective.
Children’s Personal Information
Altair does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13.
You can send a request to remove your name from Altair’s marketing list, if you do not wish to receive any marketing information by using the "Unsubscribe" link located in the electronic marketing material or by sending a message to email@example.com stating that you would like to be removed.
